Business is business! But Moses... is Moses!

The sequel to Leningrad Cowboys Go America, the film was not as amusing as the original, although there are some laughs in this tequila-soaked trek from Mexico (where the Cowboys had enjoyed unexpected chart success), in the company of manager, Matti Pellonpaa, who changes his name from Vladimir to Moses for this offbeat odyssey to the promised land of Russia.

Perhaps the most significant aspect of the film is that it was Matti Pellonpää's last performance for Kaurismäki before his untimely death in 1995.

The new band members who weren't in the original film were: Twist-Twist Erkinharju, Ben Granfelt (who when he left the band went on to join Wishbone Ash), Jore Marjaranta (arguably the best of the Cowboys singers and front man during the legendary Total Balalaika era), Ekke Niiva, Jyri Närvänen & Pemo Ojala (who does indeed look like Lenin's bastard son!).

The film failed to secure even a cinema release in Finland. Pity because it's not as bad a movie as that would lead you to believe. There are plenty of funny touches to the film and it's a film that grows on me each time I view the Dvd.

The German title for the film was Die Leningrad Cowboys treffen Moses
