- Albert Gleizes was overwhelmed by Cubism in 1910, and in 1912 published with Metzinger Du Cubisme, the first book on the subject (English translation Cubism, 1913). He was one of the flat-pattern Cubists, and also produced abstract works.
He was also a founder-member of Section d'Or and exhibited in the Armory show. In 1917, when in America, he turned to religion, and many of his later works are a marriage of traditional Catholic themes with Cubist ideas. He also wrote on religion and art.
There are works in London (Tate), Paris (Mus. d'Art Mod.), New York (M of MA) and Toronto.
