...and now a random fact about Julie Christie:
- At her Welsh farmhouse in March 1979, an accident occurred that horrifically reflected the early scene in Don't Look Now where Christie's screen child is drowned in a garden pool. Driving to Cefn-y-Coed with Duncan Campbell, Christie arrived to find her friend Leslie Heale who had been digging in the garden frantically searching for her young son Harry. Harry was just twenty-two-months old, and had wandered off while his mother's attention was diverted.
Minutes later Leslie noticed 'what looked like a grey rug' floating in the middle of the two-feet deep garden pond the family used to breed rare geese. Then the shock of realization dawned. 'I could see the figure under the water,' Leslie told the inquest in April. 'I waded in and pulled him out and ran to the house. His face was blue.' Two doctors were called and an ambulance, but by the time it arrived the boy was dead. Christie, like the Heales, was 'devastated' and refused to talk to anyone, least of all the flocks of press who arrived.
