Because, in this bizarre re-imagining of Snow White, he's the only normal-size member of a family of dwarfs. True dwarfs take most of these roles, but, oddly, Gary Oldman plays McConaughey's small brother. There's some perverse pleasure to be derived from watching the trickery that director Matthew (Freeway, Confessions of a Trickbaby) Bright employs to make Oldman look like a dwarf. Cheesy dialogue, missed opportunities and the preposterousness of the plot combine to make this a movie that clodhops more often than it tiptoes.
