Ken Howard lives and works in London. He is closely associated with the New Grafton Gallery and has been for over 30 years. His work is in major public collections across the UK including the Imperial War Museum and the Ulster Museum.

He did his National Service with the Royal Marines.

• 1958-59: Wins a British Council Scholarship to Florence

• 1966: Solo exhibition at the John Whibley Gallery. Becomes a member of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters

  First Prize in the Lord Mayor’s Art Award

• 1968: Solo exhibition at the John Whibley Gallery

• 1972: Retrospective at the Plymouth City Art Gallery

• 1973: Imperial War Museum appoint him as official artist in Northern Ireland

• 1973-82: Works with British Army in Germany, Cyprus, Oman, Hong Kong, Nepal, Norway, Canada, Belize and Brunei

• 1978: Prize Winner in the John Moores Exhibition, Liverpool

• 1979: Imperial War Museum appoint him as official artist in Northern Ireland. Becomes a member of the Royal Society of Painters in Watercolours

• 1981: Becomes a member of the Royal West of England Academy

• 1983: Made ARA

• 1985: First prize in the Hunting Group Awards and the Critics Prize at Sparkasse Karlsruhe

• 1988: Becomes an Honorary Member of the Royal Society of British Artists

• 1990: Solo exhibitions at the New Grafton Gallery; Lowndes Lodge Gallery; Ackermann and Johnson

• 1991: Made RA
