The candid and revealing autobiography of supermodel Marie Helvin

        Hardback book

One of the original supermodels and international fashion icons, Marie Helvin has been an iconic image in every decade since the 1970s. She was a Hawaiian hippie child in the 60s, a magazine cover star in the 70s, a society supermodel in the 80s, a pioneer detox guru in the 90s and a reluctant reality TV contestant in 2006.

In each decade she found herself in the company of the brightest and the best. She was David Bailey's wife and muse, and together they published a memorable book of nudes titled Trouble and Strife. Paul and Linda McCartney came to their wedding party in Honolulu. After David Bowie saw her fashion shots for Harpers and Queen he contacted Kansai Yamamoto to design his costumes and Shibayama to create make-up concept for the famous Aladdin Sane tour. Marie entertained Salman Rushdie during the height of the fatwa, and introduced Dodi Al Fayed to Diana, Princesss of Wales. Still at the forefront of the fashion industry, she is as much in demand as ever, most recently modelling for her seventh British Vogue cover.

Marie's autobiography candidly tells the story of friendships with, amongst others, Jerry Hall, Mick Jagger and Andy Warhol. She reveals the dark side of her own personality as she explains how, gradually, she came to believe in her own beauty and found fulfilment as an independent woman.

Illustrated with photographs from many of the greats, including Bailey, Helmut Newton and Nick Knight, Marie Helvin's memoir is a remarkable story of our times.

'It's funny, naughty, sexy, revelatory.' (Chrissy Iley THE SUNDAY TIMES)

'sit back and be transported into a world where everyone is irresistible.' (Helena Frith Powell THE SUNDAY TIMES)

'a surprisingly candid and thoughtful autobiography by one of the world's first supermodels.' (Henry Sutton THE MIRROR) '

Helvin's rise to fame and affair with photographer David Bailey, makes for fascinating reading and reminds that models have been misbehaving well before Naomi and Kate.' (AXM)

'Helvin's candour about her personal life is remarkable. Her description of Warren Beatty's face when she knocked him back in the lobby of the Beverly Hills Hotel is worth the cover price alone.' (Hadley Freeman VOGUE)
