Pablo Picasso ~ Trois Danseuses, c.1924

Size without border: 60 x 50 cm

Product Type: Serigraph

This serigraph is an artisan print with a stunning paint-like vibrancy and viscosity. Also known as screen printing or silk screening, serigraphy is a printing process by which inks are forced through a mesh screen and applied to the surface of the print. The result is a brilliantly hued work of art that retains its beauty for a lifetime.

If possible, and especially important with all things Picasso because of the beauty of the work, it's best to buy the official prints even if they are a bit more expensive. The reproduction should be of a quality to capture every small detail of the work as anything that is not of the highest quality will detract from the piece. The 'Succession Picasso' in small print somewhere around the image is a guarantee of quality.

A life without Picasso is a very sad place indeed.

This is one of a few pages I've created to share some of my most treasured & loved Picasso items and the reasons why. A full list can be found here.

All the items are inexpensive and yet are of the highest quality.

Picasso - Don Quixote, c.1955

The son of an art teacher, Picasso (1881 - 1973) showed exceptional talent from a very early age, mastering the skills of academic draughtsmanship as a child. He first visited paris in 1900 at the age of 19 and by 1904 had settled there permanently. By 1907, inspired by Cezanne and African sculpture, Picasso had moved away from the subject matter and palette of his Blue and Rose periods towards an analysis of the simplification of form. The culmination of this was the formation, with Braque and Gris, of Cubism, an art movement which changed the face of modern art irrevocably.

For the rest of his life Picasso continued to experiment with different styles, media and subject matter and, as well as in painting his genius expressed itself in sculpture and in graphic art.

He produced a monumental 20,000 artworks during his 70-year career.
