Perugino is said to have been a pupil of Piero della Francesca in the late 1460s.
Thereafter, he went to Florence and possibly worked in the shop of Verrocchio. Here, in the 1470s, Leonardo was also active.
By 1479, Perugino was in Rome. In 1481, he may have been the leader of the team which included Botticelli and Ghirlandaio and which undertook the frescoes in the Sistine Chapel.
In the early 1500s, Raphael was a pupil in his shop. His own work in S. Severo at Perugia was later (after Raphael's early death in 1520) completed by his master.
In 1506, he retired to Perugia.
