Widely regarded as John Thaw’s breakthrough work, Redcap is the story of a special investigator for the Royal Military Police, and allowed Thaw to use this experience when he played Endeavour Morse and Jack Regan.
This set contains the remaining ten episodes of this series, which has not been seen since its original transmission, and follows the investigations carried out by Sgt John Mann in places as far apart as Malaysia, Cyprus, Borneo and Germany.
Originally broadcast in 1966, Redcap is from a time when the British army was still very much active throughout the world, and the occasional hostility towards Mann is pitched as such.
This second series also includes appearances from some of the biggest names in television, including George Sewell (Special Branch, The Detectives) Edward Fox (Gandhi, Edward and Mrs Simpson) Windsor Davis (It Ain’t Half Hot, Mum, Never the Twain) and Peter Bowles (Only When I Laugh, To the Manner Born).
This three-disc series will appeal to people who enjoy crime, military and mystery shows, fans of the revamped version of REDCAP (with Tamzin Outhwaite) and fans of John Thaw series’ The Sweeney and Inspector Morse.
