Before THE SWEENEY there was REGAN.
Shown as part of the ARMCHAIR CINEMA series (itself an extension of the incredibly successful and critically-acclaimed ARMCHAIR THEATRE), REGAN was an immediate critical and ratings hit, resulting in the commissioning of the first series of THE SWEENEY. Created and written by the legendary Ian Kennedy Martin (Z-CARS, JULIET BRAVO, THE CHINESE DETECTIVE), REGAN was made as a Euston Films production, being filmed entirely on location in and around central London.
When a policeman is murdered by a gang of underworld thugs, Regan and Carter are up against it to track down the killers, having to contend with pressures from both the public and other officers in the Flying Squad.
Previously only released on DVD in a cropped format, this edition of REGAN has been digitally remastered from the original elements and is presented here in its original aspect ratio of 1.33:1. It has never looked this good.
To date, Network's releases of THE SWEENEY have sold in excess of 80,000 copies.
This release will appeal to anyone who bought the previous Network releases of series one to four of THE SWEENEY, John Thaw fans, people who like police/detective series and archive television fans.
As well as being digitally restored, this special edition release will also contain a 5.1 remix of the soundtrack (as well as the original mono) and an audio commentary by Dennis Waterman, Tom Clegg and Ted Childs.
