• Known as: Early Italian Renaissance painter
• Born: 1406, Siena, Italy
• Date of death: 1481, Siena

Little is known about Sano di Pietro's life. What we do know is that he was a pupil and follower of Sassetta who was probaly only a decade older than him. When Sassetta died in 1450, he completed works left unfinished by him.

• Fresco of the Coronation of the Virgin over the Porta Romana, Siena (1458-66)
• St Francis (Siena, Pinacoteca Nazionale)
