William Bowyer studied at Burslem School of Art and the Royal College of Art, London.
His work is strongly reminiscent of both Constable
and Turner. His work is quintessentially English.
He was elected a RA in 1981. He is also a member of the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours, and the Royal Society of Portrait Painters. For many years, he was a leading figure in the New English Art Club.
To prove his Englishness he is a lifelong fan of cricket.
In 2004, he had a solo exhibition at Messum’s, London.
His work is in the National Portrait Gallery, London.
