This is a magical primitive oil on panel which we believe to be late 19th century. The painting is of a church in Crockham, Cheshire. Fortunately the person we acquired this painting from has written the history of this painting on the label on the back.
Mr. Jeff Martin purchased the painting on Dec 8th 1976 and has written the following:-
The painting was brought from a house called 'Daresbury' in Atburn Road and the church is called 'Crockham''. Mr. Martin has also placed a newspaper article on the back that gives details about Lewis Carroll, his memorial window in the church at Daresbury, Cheshire and the fact that Lewis Carroll was born at Daresbury Parsonage in 1832. Please see scan for details.
This painting is signed T.F. Colston....?
The painting is in very good condition and comes in a good quality period frame which complements the painting.
