Description:

The author Jean Genet wrote and directed his one and only short film, UN CHANT D'AMOUR using a cast plucked from his associates and male lovers from Paris streets. Set in a French prison the film examines intense homosexual desire. Banned for many years it became a cause celebre for gay rights campaigners as well as being a masterpiece of poetic film-making.

Never mind the brevity (25 minutes) of the film; this is a must-see film. I have never seen anything on the screen as poetic as this. Genet's prose was the clear definition of poetry - the film doesn't disappoint.
