She spent a week on set in Bradford for her role in Billy Liar (1963). However the director, John Schlesinger, was unhappy with his cameraman with the famous 'walk sequence' and they shot rather unsatisfactorily in Bradford for a week. They then did a bit more in London.

The area Schlesinger and his location manager chose was around Tottenham Court Road, where a vast building reconstruction scheme was in progress, making the district look not unlike swelling Bradford.

In the editing rooms Schlesinger assembled the bits and pieces from Bradford and London to create the famous 'walk sequence'.
