Leonardo da Vinci Artist/Renaissance Man Leonardo remained in Milan until 1499, working on afew artistic projects and several scientific ones but principally acting as residentgenius at the Court. Originally he had intended to carry out the elaboratebronze equestrian monument to Francesco Sforza, father of Lodovico II Moro,but the project got no further than a huge clay model of the horse without itsrider. It was never cast, and perished early in the 16th century, but there aresome superb drawings of horses connected with it. Leonardo was a famoushorseman and he seems to have projected a book on the anatomy of the horsewhile he was working on the Sforza Monument.
