Visiting the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam is really a spiritual experience. The feeling you get, if you really surrender yourself to the environment, is one of overwhelming admiration for what she, the family, and the others, went through and sadness that it was all so near but yet so far.

I suppose my superficial impressions are no different to many: it's alot bigger than I expected but then what was I expecting? You kind of get brainwashed into thinking it must be really, really small. The bigger the diary the smaller the rooms get, I guess, in your mind's eye.

I think this is taking the House out of context. In Amsterdam at the time other Jews were hidden in houses. What, of course, makes this different is THE DIARY, the written word as great as you will find anywhere in the world. After The Bible it is the most read book in the world - a young girl did indeed change how the world thinks.
