  • Robin Tripp (Richard O’Sullivan – Robin’s Nest, Dick Turpin) is now part of the furniture in the flat he shares with Chrissy (Paula Wilcox – The Smoking Room, The Queen’s Nose) and Jo (Sally Thomsett – Straw Dogs, The Railway Children). However, it’s not all plain sailing in Man about the House – The Complete Third Series, as the household find themselves in some awkward situations…


    This time around:


    • Larry, Robin’s friend moves in temporarily and soon outstays his welcome
    • Chrissy discovers she used to be Robin’s new girlfriend’s milk monitor, and still feels responsible for her
    • Robin receives dancing lessons from a more-than willing Mildred Roper
    • The pitter-patter of tiny feet – belonging to a mouse – means Robin finally gets to spend the night in Chrissy’s room
    • Chrissy finds out she has a secret admirer
    • George plans to convert the house into smaller ‘dwelling units’ – and he’s not going to be put off by the tenants three-year lease
    • Chrissy stands in as host at one of Robin’s poker evenings


    Man about the House was hugely successful on its first transmission and this series, originally broadcast in 1974, is a perfect example why. Man about the House led to two equally successful spin-offs – George and Mildred and Robin’s Nest, and is still fondly remembered today.
