Original double-sided promotional poster created for Russell Mills’ Cleave / Soft Bullets / Extended Wings exhibitions in 2002. These shows formed part of Mills’ ongoing exploration of mixed-media assemblage, combining found materials, distressed surfaces, charcoal, inks, and handwritten text fragments. The works evolved from Mills’ interest in memory, erosion, and the tension between accident and intention.

The exhibitions were held in small contemporary art spaces in the UK and featured a series of pieces that later influenced or overlapped with Mills’ visual collaborations with musicians including David Sylvian, Harold Budd, and Brian Eno. Material from the Cleave and Soft Bullets series also appeared in installation form, accompanied by experimental soundscapes and projected light textures.

Because these posters were produced only for exhibition promotion and gallery distribution, surviving copies are scarce. They were never sold commercially and were printed in limited quantities on semi-gloss stock. Ideal for framing and highly collectible for fans of Russell Mills, David Sylvian, and early-2000s UK mixed-media art.
