Birth name: Patricia Jude Francis Kensit
Height: 5' 5½"
Patsy Kensit began her acting career as a child — making her film debut at the age of six when she appeared as the daughter of Mia Farrow in The Great Gatsby (1974). Since then, she has maintained a career spanning film, television and music, often balancing acting with singing fame.
In the 1980s she emerged into public attention as both an actress and the lead singer of the pop band Eighth Wonder, achieving chart success, before returning to the screen with a breakthrough role in the musical film Absolute Beginners (1986), and later appearing in the popular action film Lethal Weapon 2 (1989).
Over the years she starred in a variety of films including Twenty-One (1991), Blame It on the Bellboy (1992), Angels & Insects (1995) and Grace of My Heart (1996).
In the 2000s she moved more into television: from 2004 to 2006 she played Sadie King in Emmerdale, followed by the medical-drama role of Faye Morton in Holby City from 2007 to 2010 (with a guest appearance in 2019).
More recently, in 2023 she played Emma Harding in EastEnders — the estranged mother of a character with a terminal illness — marking a significant return to British primetime television. Also in 2023 she appeared in other projects, including a role in the TV-show Death in Paradise (Christmas Special 2023) and various film or TV credits since 2020.
Patsy Kensit has been married several times — her past marriages include: - Dan Donovan (1988–1991) — 1 child - Jim Kerr (1992–1996) — 1 child - Liam Gallagher (1997–2000) — 1 child She has also had other relationships.
In recent years Kensit has spoken out about the challenge of being defined by her relationships rather than her acting — telling a UK publication in early 2025: “We live in a very chauvinistic world,” expressing frustration at how women are often judged for their personal history more than their work. Also in 2025, she revealed publicly that she had been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and described feelings of isolation when not working, reflecting openly on her mental health.
