Banks also has dabbled in acting, with appearances in the movies Higher Learning (1995, with Jennifer Connelly) and Coyote Ugly (2000, with Piper Perabo).

In 2000s she shifted her focus to television, producing the series America's Next Top Model in 2003 and in 2005 beginning her own talk show, The Tyra Banks Show.

Banks retired from modelling in 2005, saying she would give more focus to her television career.
