COCTEAU TWINS

Treasure, Cocteau Twins' third studio album and widely regarded by fans as their finest work, arrives here in the 2003 4AD remastered UK reissue. Recorded in August–September 1984 at Palladium Studios, Edinburgh and Rooster, West London, this is the record where the band settled into their classic lineup — Elizabeth Fraser, Robin Guthrie and Simon Raymonde — and fully embraced the ethereal, dream-pop sound they'd become synonymous with.

Every track title on Treasure is a name — Ivo, Lorelei, Pandora, Persephone — giving the album a mythic, almost incantatory quality, even as the band themselves resisted any literal mythological reading of the material. Fraser's voice remains as untranslatable as ever, built from invented syllables and half-formed words rather than conventional lyrics — a technique that would go on to influence a generation of dream-pop and shoegaze acts.

Remastered by Robin Guthrie himself for this 2003 4AD reissue (catalogue GAD 412), this edition brings the album to CD with its original artwork intact. Worth noting for serious collectors: this particular remaster has drawn mixed reactions over the years, with some longtime fans preferring earlier, non-remastered pressings — so this listing suits anyone wanting the official reissue specifically, alongside those simply after a great-condition copy of one of 4AD's most essential releases.
