Released in 1993, Pure Cult is a major retrospective collection covering the most successful and influential period of The Cult's career, bringing together key recordings from their evolution from post-punk and gothic rock pioneers into a stadium-filling hard rock act.

Led by the distinctive partnership of Ian Astbury and Billy Duffy, The Cult developed a unique sound that combined atmospheric alternative rock, psychedelic influences and powerful guitar-driven anthems. By the early 1990s they had become one of the most recognisable British rock bands on the international stage.

This collection features many of the band's best-known recordings, including classics such as She Sells Sanctuary, Rain, Spiritwalker, Love Removal Machine, Fire Woman and Wild Flower. Taken together, the tracks provide an excellent overview of the band's musical development across a decade of recording.
