The VIL-6114 edition of Brilliant Trees is a Japanese vinyl LP released on July 21, 1984, under Virgin Records Ltd. and manufactured by Victor Musical Industries, Inc. in Tokyo. This edition features art rock, downtempo, and synth-pop elements, with contributions from Ryuichi Sakamoto, Jon Hassell, Holger Czukay, and Steve Jansen.

Collectors often seek this release for its Japanese insert and obi strip, which sometimes show signs of aging. Most on the market do not have the Sylvian poster which was originally released with the album. This also does not have the poster.
