WUTHERING HEIGHTS (BACK COVER)

Emily Brontė's classic novel of conflict and passion has yet to be surpassed by any writer of romantic fiction.

The story of wilful Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff, the unruly orphan brought into her family by her father, has captured generations of readers with its unequalle emotional intensity. Mistreated by Hindley Earnshaw, Heathcliff takes his revenge on all the Earnshaws and the bland, Linton family int which Catherine marries. Yet Catherine and Heathcliff remain kindred spirits; wild and elemental. Nothing can seperate these two souls: not even death.

EMILY BRONTE (INNER COVER)

Emily Brontė was born in 1818 and at the age of two moved to Haworth parsonage, where she and her sisters and brother were brought up by their aunt. The children formed their own closely integrated society and wrote tales, fantasies and poems, and brought out their own magazine. Writing for publication Emily Brontė used the name Ellis Bell. Wuthering Heights is her only novel althugh she also wrote poetry. She died of tuberculosis at the age of thirty.
