A romance with a touch of mystery. An Italian painter runs across a cabaret singer who he believes is the actually the Countess Maria Varelli, a woman who disappeared on the eve of her marriage, ten years earlier. Still suffering from a case of amnesia brought on by wartime traumas, the woman, now going by the name of Zara, is returned to her husband in Italy. Despite her inability to recall her past, Zara attempts to reinvent herself in the image of the innocent young bride depicted in her wedding portrait.
