An exodus to a better life in Eira

You will either think that this movie is a work of genius or a work of a drunken madman. There is nothing in between!

Anything with 17 men called Frank in it is going to be different!

The aforementioned Franks make their way through Helsinki in a commandeered subway car. Their goal is to reach the symbolically peaceful, perfect coastal town of Eira. Along the way they perform some pop music, one of them is shot, they split up, and finally two manage to reach the sea. Once there, they discover that the water is filled with dead fish, and a decrepit rowboat somehow becomes an object of contention.

I for one loved it and would heartily recommend it.

Two future Leningrad Cowboys' band members appeared in the film, Sakke Järvenpää & Sakari Kuosmanen. Of course the legendary Matti Pellonpää played the band's manager in both of the road movies.

Elokuva kertoo viidestätoista Frankista ja yhdestä Pekasta ja heidän matkastaan Kallion kaupunginosasta Eiraan. Kallio on käynyt siellä ikänsä eläneille ahtaaksi, ja heidän unelmissaan siintää jo isovanhempien tarinoissa esiintynyt myyttinen Eira jossa kadut ovat tasaisia ja puistot vehreitä. Matka unelmien Eiraan osoittautuu kuitenkin vaaralliseksi ja loppujen lopuksi Frankeista ainoastaan kaksi saavuttavat Eiran.
