Description

This UK cassette single of Kraftwerk – Radioactivity was released by EMI in October 1991, during a period when Kraftwerk’s back catalogue was being actively re-promoted in the UK. Rather than supporting a new studio album, the release formed part of a wider early-1990s revival of interest in the band, driven by reissues, compilations, and renewed radio play.

The cassette was issued in a clear shell with a card sleeve, which is the correct original packaging for this release. Unlike earlier 1980s Kraftwerk cassette issues, this title was not supplied in a plastic case. As such, the presence of the card sleeve alone should be considered complete, and the absence of a hard case is not a flaw.

By 1991, cassette singles were already in decline in the UK market, with CD singles rapidly becoming the dominant format. As a result, EMI cassette singles from this period were typically produced in relatively modest quantities, making them scarcer today than their CD counterpart.

Radioactivity is one of Kraftwerk’s most iconic and culturally significant tracks, with its environmental and nuclear themes continuing to resonate with listeners and collectors. This has helped sustain long-term demand for the release, especially among Kraftwerk completists, EMI collectors, and cassette-format enthusiasts.
